Your recordings stay yours
What we keep, and what we don't.
- Audio, transcripts and notes are stored only on your computer.
- Speech is sent to our server and our AI provider to be processed. Our server does not save it.
- Our AI provider may keep data for a limited time under its own terms. We use a paid tier whose terms say data is not used for training.
- Our server keeps your email, balance, payments and minutes used, plus usage records with no audio or text in them. It never keeps anything you said or wrote.

- A microphone (the built-in one is fine)

Installing on Windows
Kotra's beta installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may show a blue warning the first time. Follow these steps to continue.
- Open Kotra-setup-x64.exe from your Downloads. If your browser says the file isn't commonly downloaded, choose Keep.
- If you see “Windows protected your PC”, click More info.
- Click Run anyway. Kotra installs for your account only, with no admin password needed.
Only download Kotra from kotra.app. Later updates install from inside the app.

Is Kotra free?
The first hour is. Sign in with Google and get 60 minutes free, no card needed. After that you buy prepaid packs. There is no subscription.
Does it handle lectures that mix Khmer and English?
Yes. Khmer is written in Khmer script and English terms stay in English, so a Khmerglish lecture reads the way it sounds.
Does Kotra work offline?
It needs internet to transcribe. If Wi‑Fi drops for a while, Kotra keeps recording and finishes the transcript when you're back online.
Is my recording private?
Audio, transcripts and notes are stored only on your computer. Speech is sent to our server and our AI provider to be turned into text, and our server does not save it.
Does Kotra work on Mac?
Not yet. Kotra runs on Windows 10 and 11 today. The Mac version (macOS 13 or later) is coming to the beta soon.
